WELCOME TO THE WEB SITE OF ST. MARY’S CHURCH IN BRYANTOWN, MARYLAND.

We are a parish of about 800 families located approximately one half hour drive outside of the Washington D.C. Beltway south of Waldorf in Charles County, Maryland. Our parish was officially incorporated in 1793, but the history of organized worship by Catholics in the Bryantown area reaches back even further. The cemetery behind and adjacent to the church is very historic. In face, the grave of Dr. Samuel Mudd, the physician who treated the broken leg of John Wilkes Booth, is located in our cemetery.

St. Mary’s has deep rural roots. There are quite a few families that have been in the parish for many generations, but it is also being increasingly infused by suburban commuters. Bryantown has not been developed nearly as much as Waldorf or La Plata, which makes it nice, and yet both are conveniently 15-20 minutes away.

Our parish school is attended by approximately 250 children, Pre-K through 8th grade. St. Mary’s School, which has been in existence since 1915, is fully accredited by the Middle States Association and every full-time faculty member is a certified teacher.

The Lord has greatly blessed this parish in the past, and under the watchful care of his Mother we look to the future with confidence and trust.

Please enjoy this website, and we hope to see you soon.

Rev. Larry Young, Pastor
